How effective is low dose birth control?

how effective is a birthcontrol pill if its really low dose against pregnancy? is it the same as a high dose Bc?

Answer #1

Truth is:

It doesn’t matter.

A low dose birth control pill offers just as much protection as a higher dose (that is providing you are speaking of the combination birth control pill).

The reason why they give high birth control pills is usually for women with acne, irregular periods or endometriosis etc. But as for protection if you use the pill correctly it is 99% effective.

Answer #2

The dose the doctor gives you depends on your body and how much they think it can handle. All types of pill Birth control are 99.9 % effective to protect against pregnancy. Although if your not with a long time partner yhou still should be using other forms of birth control. Nothing is fool proof and seamenn can live in you up to three days.

Answer #3

It depends on why you’re taking it? I’ve been put on hormonal birth control before, the dosage was not meant to be used as a birth control but as a means of regulating my period. As I wasnt having sex it wasnt an issue, but my doctor did warn me that she was not sure how effective it would be as birth control. You really should consult whoever prescribed the medication.
