she was the wife of Thutmose II. she became pharoah upon the death of her husband because his only heir thutmose III was too young to ascend to the throne. as pharoah she was depicted as a male, she ruled for 20 years. because of their beliefs the egyptians felt that all pharoahs had to be men and after hatshepsuts death her images as pharoah and inscriptions containing her name were either destroyed or hidden away from public view. Thutmose III was supposed to be her co-ruler during her reign and once she was crowned as pharoah this created a bit of animosity between her and Thutmose III to the point that after her death Thutmose III began defacing her images on temples.

Medinet habu is one of the temples she had built- this temple was called “ the genuine mound of the west” home of the primeval gods of creation.

as terminator stated it is thought that she was a fairly popular pharoah, except of course among the followers of Thutmose III , who believed that he was the rightful successor to his father.
