When will my body start to go use the washroom without peeing my bed?

I am a 13 year old girl almost 14. Every night I wet the bed. I do not feel like I gotta go pee either. I do the whole drinking thing but it dont work. I really dont like my doctor so I hope I don’t have to go see my doctor I wanna be able to try something else to try and stop the problem. Anyone got any ideas?

My Daughter has the same problem she just turned 15. What we do is she stops drinking around 5pm and goes to bed at 10pm she sets a alarm clock for 1am and 4am to use the bathroom. she has not wet the bed for about a year now. and when she has sleep overs she wears a adult diaper the kind like underwear. not the thick kind .

…..I’ve debated answering this for the last 15 minutes. I guess because my rl name is not listed here and I don’t think anyone who knows me casually will read this, I will.

I was born premature with my digestive system and bladder, etc the most undeveloped. To this day if I eat something, it comes out 6-8 hours after. And my bladder can only hold about 200ml. I used to have to use a rest-stop every 30 minutes on the road and drove my parents crazy, and I used to have to get up every hour during the night to avoid wetting my bed. If I took cold medicine or alergy medicine (which I often have to) I almost know I will sleep though half the night and either wake up wet or I will wake up desperate and wet myself the moment I step into the bathroom :( I’ve also had multiple UITs and bladder infections which from what I have been told have not helped things.

I used to have to sleep with a plastic cover on my matteress and it made me always wet with sweat…literally to the point that I sometimes couldn’t tell if I had wet the bed or not in the middle of the night. I also got some nasty yeast infections :( :( :(

Starting in the 1st grade I had a drs note for the school to inform them that if I had to use the restroom, I could just go, without asking. I had a teacher who made me sit through the whole test time, every friday for our weekly quiz and after I wet myself the first time during one…(a memory I really hate because people still remember it)…he suddenly believed me.

They put me on some hormone pills to make me pee less, but it just ment I had to pee every two hours sigh

When I was 9 or 10 I wanted to be able to go over to friend’s houses to spend the night really badly and so I did the most embarassing thing of my life (more embarassing than comming out) and asked my dad if I could get some pull up diapers at night.

I still wear diapers at night now, but I have kinda learned somehow to get up over time. Maybe I just sleep less deeply because I am growing up? I don’t know, but having the feeling of security that even if I have an accident, I won’t make my bed wet and cold…it somehow makes me MUCH less likely to wet if I have a diaper on and I can almost always get to the toilet to pee and at the very worst might dribble a little. In the same situation, but in panties I can’t stop myself from peeing once I start.

I also do wake myself up on purpose at about 3-4am to use the bathroom with one alarm. And then I use another alarm clock to wake up, so I mentally know the difference and I don’t actually fully wake up from the first one if that makes sense.

I also wear my diaper for 3 days and only change it if I wet or 3 days happen without wetting. For one I don’t want to reinforce wetting in the diaper if I don’t need to and as long as air it in my room during the day (and spray a little Suave powder deoderant into it) I can wear it for multiple days without getting any nasty infections. I might be able to get away with more than 3 days, but I don’t want to get something like toxic shock, if you can get that.

Oh and speaking of that, I wear really slim diapers when I am having my peroid. They don’t get your panties stained and I don’t want to use tampons until I lose my virginity.

The only thing I don’t do is go to large slumber parties. I usually keep it to small overnighters with one or two friends I know really well so that no stories get around. I also started homeschooling when I entered middleschool. However since then, most of the local schools have closed up so quite a lot of other people are homeschooling too.

From what I know about your specific problem, if you are not noticing that you need to use the toilet, then you might need to put yourself on a timed bathroom schedual to just force yourself to try every now and then so that you don’t find yourself in a damp situation. If you are only night wetting, then that homone I tried (I forget the name, but I suspect there is only one that affects pee) because it might really help you, or at least get it so that you only have to wake up 1 or 2 times in the night to keep dry.

big hugs I know all too well how scary it is to ask for advice on this at our age and how equally scary it is to respond to someone’s question if you do have the answer…because ummm how else would you have the answers unless you or someone you were REALLY close to had a similar problem…

I hope your friends and family are being kind to you. Stress is one thing which will surely only make wetting problems worse.

Oh something else you could try would be maybe to wear some plastic/rubber panties over your normal panties when you sleep. Then if you start to pee, you might feel it and wake up in time to get to the bathroom without making a mess.

If you keep wetting and nothing, nothing seems to help…you might have to eventually go see a dr. Would it be possible to see another one or are you in an area like me where there are only 2 doctors in the area and your insurance only will cover one?

hugs again
