Ryan, Here's what I did when I was faced with the ugly grout issue last year. It takes a bit of work but it's the best way to solve the issue.
Forget about getting any cleaning supplies first off. They won't cut it. You are better off regrouting. Here's what you need:
1) grout from home depot or lowes 2) big sponge 3) plastic gloves 4) grout saw
Go out and get a grout saw for about $5.99 at the local hardware store. User a bit of elbow grease to remove that ugly grout from between the tiles. Wipe everything down with a dustpan and brush. Clean it with a sponge and let it dry.
The next day, mix some grout in a disposable plastic cup with a spoon by adding some water. Let it sit for 15 minutes until its the right consistency. Now put on your plastic glove and begin grabbing globs of grout and run your finger down each space between the tile. Don't worry about getting grout on the tile it will come on. Let it sit overnight.
Return the next morning and brush lightly over the counter. Clean it with some water.
Optional: you can now seal the grout with a sealer if you choose to do so.
Congrats, you have a nice clean looking area now that looks good as new!
