What to feed young children while babysitting?

I will be starting to babysitt a 1yr old and a 3.5yr old..what are some good choices on what to feed them for lunch and snacks? what are some things I should avoid giving them so they dont choke? What should I do if they do choke? Like I know basic cpr and first aid…just really nervous, dont want them to choke. so any tips would be great thanks

Definately speak to the parents about it but a few things you shouldnt give them because they are a choking hazard are peanuts, hot dogs, grapes, marshmallows.

Dry cereal like Cheerios is good, cut up bananas.

The old stand by of chicken nuggets and mac and cheese would probably work.

Anything soft and mushy is good. Nothing too hard or small and round.

Ask the parents about certain allergys the children might have and ask what types of food they allow their kids to eat because some people are really picky about that kind of stuff … Xo:)

Answer #3

That is something you should speak to the parents about. No one knows those children better than the parents do! I would avoid things with caffeine and a lot of sugar. It may also be a good idea to let the children choose what they want from a few healthy options you make available. That way they feel like they have some control over the matter. It helps them assert independence at that age.
