What is the difference between theese two sayings? “I could care less” and “ I couldn’t care less”?

Answer #1

Depends on what the definition of ‘is’, ‘is’.

Answer #2

Dear hooch, I believe the phrase I couldn’t care less was the original. Meaning of course the speaker is feeling the less he possibly can. The phrase I could care less is stating that the speaker indeed has some care left. The latter is used incorrectly in most cases I believe. Sue…good luck

Answer #3

I think of “I could care less” meaning I could care less than you think I should/do and “ I couldn’t care less” means you care so little, you couldn’t not care anymore. LOL that sounds confusing.

Answer #4

I could care less is a phrase used by people thinking they’re saying I couldn’t care less. In reality, I don’t think I’ve ever encountered someone who has said the first without meaning the second.

Answer #5

“I couldn’t care less” means they don’t care at all and “I could care less” means they somewhat care. However, I just think the “I could care less” is wrong, as it doesn’t mean what the person is trying to say.

Answer #6

There is no difference…
