What is 'deep conditioning'?

I’ve asked for some advice about a perm, and people keep typing ‘deep condition’.. what is that?

You can find ‘deep conditions’ at shampoo/conditioner’ aisle at the store. Read the bottles, they will say ‘deep conditioning’…my experience is that they usually come in a tube, rather a bottle, and are thicker…and…you leave them on for 15 to 30 minutes.

You can buy deep conditioners and do them yourself for quite cheap, or you can go to a salon and get a treatment (same sort of thing) and that can cost around $300.

Deep conditioners repair your hair and depending on weather they are internal or external, can restore lost nutrients and protein. They are really good if you straighten a lot, and can be good if you got a perm and your hair is a bit dry.

Its like, when you have shampooed your hair, and it feels rough and not silky or smooth? Then you put conditioner on and it goes smooth and nice, well imagine your hair at the moment is like just after you have shampooed, its a bit rough and may have split ends. Deep conditioning is like a really really really good conditioner that can last for months.

its like a regular conditioner, but you leave it in longer and its suppose to renew your hair and keep if from breaking and frizzing. after you perm or straighten your hair, most people deep condition in order to restore whatever the perm took away (like the natural oils that keep it healthy) and to repair any breakage or split ends the perm caused. you can buy one at your local drug store (:
