I joined the Army and got stationed there. The Army paid me to visit Alaska. Seriously. That’s how I went to Alaska.

The best way to go to Alaska is to get a job. The tourist industry hires seasonally: May through September in shore towns. Construction is also seasonal. If you are able to work really, really hard, try a fishing boat. After you finish the job, you’ll have some knowledge of Alaska. Stay for awhile after the job ends and enjoy the state.
