How can my friend legally see his baby?

A friend of mine has recently become a new father. He was dateing this girl for A little over a year. she is still legally married… due to this he cannot legally sign her birth certificate… not to mention now the mother doesnt keep in contact with him so he can see his daughter. what can he do legally to see his baby? and what options if any does he have with being on the birth certificate?

Hi firedaddy, Thanks great your friend wants to be a part of his child’s life. I would definitely recommend getting a DNA test as soon as possible. Whether or not your friend’s name is on the birth certificate if he is the father he has rights. Another thought to ponder is right now the ex-girlfriend is in a relationship. But what happens later on is unpredictable. Imagine if she decided to collect child support 3 to 4 years down the line. It would put your friend in a bad situation.

Dear firedaddy, He is going to need a DNA test done to prove he is the father. This can be done once the baby is 6 months old. He can get a court order for this. Once this is done and he is proven to be the father he can set up visitation and even have joint custody. Along with this may come support payments as well. Sue…good luck
