Answer #1

Well your doctor is saying you need them for reading ect. The answer is yes they will help you with that, but I think you are wondering if glasses will “fix” your eyes so you don’t have to wear them and the answer to that is no. I have over the counter non-prescription reading glasses (about ten bucks) that I use for reading certain finer print like the newspaper or a phone book and some stuff at work. They are not prescription but get me by. I have a pair at work, one in my truck, one at home and another in my shop. Pretty handy and cheap. You can buy em at drug stores. They come in different strengths. Some day i will have to go to the eye doctor but not yet.

Answer #2

No, it doesn’t however, it can fix other problems like cross-eyed or treat things like nystagmus.

Once you start wearing glasses, your eyes will adjust to seeing things clearer compared to before, so when you take them off, you will have blurriness because your eyes adjusted to “perfect” vision.

If you need it for reading, use it for that. If he doesn’t tell you to wear them 24/7, then don’t because it won’t help or hurt you if you did.

Yes they do

Answer #5

When I was a kid most eye doctors thought that forcing the eyes to “work harder” would make them stronger. Doctors even under corrected vision thinking it would force the eyes to work harder. This has been shown not to be true but some older eye doctors might be set in their ways. Wearing spectacles will neither make your eyes better nor worse. Sometimes you might have some temporary eyestrain from blurry vision but this goes away after the eyes are rested. Unless your doctor has some treatment mode that I’m not aware of I’d say you should do whatever allows you to see best; if your vision is better with glasses wear them; otherwise you don’ t need to.

Answer #6

Not sure how you would use spectacles to treat nystagmus. Sometimes minor strabismus can be managed by adding some prism into the glasses

Answer #7

if you have long sightedness or short sight , then yes wearing glasses can make your vision stronger.
