Vitamins vs. Starvation

So the other day I overheard a bunch of real sporty jock-types talking about track and how much weight they’d have to drop and they started talking about just taking multi-vitamins and drinking water but not eating anything. Would that seriously work? It doesn’t seem like it to me, but I could be wrong.

It could prove fatal.

Sure, they’re getting their vitamins, but the body needs sustenance to survive…it requires energy.

  2. you may lose weight at first, but when you dont eat, your body will eventually hoard all the fat it can.

sounds like they are beginning an eating disorder to me. im not skinny., but I most def. wont ever starve myself like that.

Wrestlers are the most notorious group for starving themselves since “making weight” for a lighter class they have the advantage of competing against smaller and weaker opponents.

Track requires speed, power, and endurance; none of which can be developed without nourishment. To get faster competitors may have to loose some weight but starving is counterproductive for these athletes. The way to loose weight is by heating healthy and trusting the training schedule their coach provides.

no, it doesnt work and theyll probably end up dead soon if they keep it up its only tempoary because there starving themselves so anything they eat goes straight on as fat and theyll end up gaining all the weight back, and then some
