My husband is a marine and is stationed in Japan rt now, we want to start a family anyways I started my period Oct 5th and I didn't make it here till Oct 23 rd, I was wondering if there was a chance we could have still been able to conceive!? I dont really understand this ovulation thing but if someone could help me out with some good advice, I'd appreciate it...Thanks
OK- starting at the last day of your period, the average woman with a 28 day cycle will have about 2 weeks until she ovulates. At that point, an egg is released, and you have a 12 hour to 48 hour window for conception. Sperm lives for about 3 days in the vagina. SO, at day 11 after your period, start having sex, in case you ovulate a bit early... then I'd recommend every day after that, until about day 17 after your period. I would also recommend getting one of those First Response fertility detectors. My friend's little sister and her hubby had been trying for almost 6 months, and the first time they used the ovulation calculator and detector thing they conceived. :)
There's always a chance, they just say you're more fertile 14 days after your last period. You cant always expect it to happen the first time.
