and what is your opinion?
I don't believe they are :) The draft is a horrific idea and the fact is that the wars have been one of the major sinkholes of the economy and the reason for declining popularity of America / and US citizens abroad since we invaded Iraq.
If you read some of the articles that have come out since the wikileaks documents were released (so called classified intel from the US government) then it's really hard to justify all the deaths that have happened...as a result, it's incredible tough to say that a draft even makes any remote amount of sense.
Currently our military is stretched almost to the breaking point. Soldiers are sent for long and repeated tours of duty. We still have young people volunteering but much of this is only because there aren't enough jobs. It is usually quite difficult to get enough volunteers during wartime.
Not known if they are planning for a draft but they are prepared for one. All American men are required to register for selective service within 30 days of their 18th birthday.
Absolutely. I don't think anyone should have to register but having a daughter I'm selfishly happy about this vestige of sexism.
There will have to be a real emergency. Like a world war three.
Which I personally consider sexist in today's society.
There's no need for one.
