question about U.S. federal government run health insurnace plan

Do you thiink that a federal government run health insurance plan will be approved before midnight ET 31 Dec 2009

Answer #1

Instead, he already bankrupted the country

I think Bush had already done that. American want this, but the insurance companies are throwing tons of money around to stop it.

Answer #2

I don’t think so. If Obama wants universal health care, he’s going to have to give up the idea of a grand new program, and concentrate instead on expanding existing programs such as medical savings accounts, medicare, and medicaid.

He blew his wad on “stimulus”, which was an idiotic thing to do. He should have combined the “stimulus” argument with the health care debate to push health care reform as an economic stimulus program. Instead, he already bankrupted the country. Any grand new programs at this point will send the dollar into a tailspin.

Answer #3

We will have to wait and see how obstructionist the republicans and their friends in the insurance industry are. If congress listens to the will of the people, we should have some kind of public option. If not, the insurance companies will have won and the american people will have lost.

Answer #4

I think something will pass before Dec 31. Whether it will be any good or not remains to be seen.

Answer #5

bellydancer67, have YOU Read the bill? Or are you just relying on FOX Noise to give you the highlights?

Did you know that all the jobs that the insurance industry has created will be lost when they will be unable to compete with big Gvt for health care?

And that is a good thing. The whole health insurance industry should be dissolved. It provides nothing positive for society. It is just a cash cow for greedy corporations and their CEOs. That is why they are fighting tooth and nail spreading the exact propaganda you are parroting here. A government run plan will create many jobs that are lost to private carriers. It will also run far more efficently than private insurance does now. Just look at how well Medicare (a government run healthcare system) does. It is far more effecient, and in the long run will saves trillions of dollars.

Answer #6

I hope not…that’s not much time to read it. Oh…I forgot…knowing what’s in a bill before passing it, is passe…

Answer #7

…knowing what’s in a bill before passing it, is passe…

Yeah, that’s how we got the patriot act…

Answer #8

Here’s the real litmus test: Are Congress, the Senate, and the President himself willing to give up THEIR current health plans and receive the same plan they want for the American people? If it’s not good enough for them, then it’s not good enough for us. BTW, the answer is no.

But… did you know that the health care bill contains a clause that gives the Gvt the right to inquire about the way you raise YOUR kids? As in, how you feed them, what meds you give them, why aren’t you keeping your kid on Ritalin, etc. Can anyone say “Communist Russia”?

Did you know that all the jobs that the insurance industry has created will be lost when they will be unable to compete with big Gvt for health care? Did you further know that this plan will make it impossible for ME to keep insurance thru my employment? They will no longer be able to afford to offer insurance to me because the Gvt will take away tax breaks that encourage my employer to offer me insurance. This will insure that I HAVE to take whatever insurance is offered by the GVT. READ IT! It’s in there!

Oh wait. The idiots trying to pass it haven’t even taken the time to read it. Guess I should just be a sheep and go along with it… after all, health insurance for everybody SOUNDS like such a great idea!
