Is it true that I am still under my parents' custody even if I'm 18 because I am still in high school?

I live in Nevada. According to some people, we’re still under their custody until we have completed high school. I heard that this is the reason why we still have to get our permission slips signed by our parents even if we’re 18.

HA! i live in Nevada too.
