Thrush, also known as a yeast infection or candidiasis. Thruch can occur in the mouth (oral thrush), but is more common in the vagina (vaginal thrush). Thrush is caused by yeast, already present in the body, which grows out of control. The yeast in question is normally one called Candida albicans, but another, more resistant yeast, Candida glabrata, can also lead to thrush. Although the vagina is generally too acidic for the yeast to grow, it is sensitive to small changes and can easily become an ideal environment for yeast to take over. Too much yeast irritates the vaginal tissues and can cause a number of unpleasant symptoms, such as itching and soreness around the vagina. Any more info you need, type “what is thrush?” into a Google search.
