What are your thoughts on the police using a taser to subdue a criminal?

Answer #1

I think it’s a method somewhere between pepper spray and a gun. If the pepper spray failed, then yes - a taser is better than a gun, but with all things, reasonable force should be practiced. People have died because of tasers.

Answer #2

My opinion on the usage of it is a little mixed. It seems a little brutal to me, but it seems less brutal than actually shooting someone. I think that all measures aside from the taser should be used before they actually use it, as it can actually kill too. If there’s no other way, though, I suppose having the taser used on people is a choice the people themselves make when they continue acting out of line. The police are just trying to do their job.

Answer #3

I don’t have a problem with the technology per se. There does seem to be a trend of it being overused.

Answer #4

I think this is much better than the alternative. However they do need to work out the problem with some dying because of being tased. That isn’t good!

Answer #5

I don’t have an issue with tasers being used. If a cop needs to shoot a taser to stop a criminal then that means that that person is bad enough that they need to be stopped whatever ways possible. It’s either a taser or bullet. Sooo in the criminal’s best interest… a taser

Answer #7

I like your answer Bryson …BUT….”in the criminals interest “ bit just bothers me big time…why should we care?why not shoot them criminal threat to the officer ba$terds?then again maybe not.

Answer #8

because officer’s are sworn to protect life and only take it if necessary. Tasers are a way to forcefully stop someone without killing them….. however, I’m more with you, which is why I should never be a cop. I’d tell the person to drop the weapon twice. After that…… let’s just say he’ll drop it one way or another. haha

Answer #9

I think it’s fine if needed.
