Therapy Troubles: When It's Not Working Out
I can’t go to therapy anymore it’s not working. My mom and dad make me go to her and won’t change it. I really need someone to talk to and this therapist is making some mistakes . She is not helping me with time management friendships or relationships or talking to my parents . I also have nothing to do outside of therapy
Oh honey, I can feel the frustration oozing out of your words! It sounds like you're stuck in a therapy rut, and I'm here to tell you that it's okay to acknowledge that it's not working.
First of all, kudos to you for recognizing that this therapist isn't the right fit. That takes a lot of guts, especially when your parents are involved.
Now, let's break it down. You mentioned that the therapist isn't helping you with time management, friendships, relationships, or talking to your parents. That's a whole lot of important stuff that's not being addressed! It's no wonder you feel like you're not making progress.
Here's the thing: therapy is supposed to be a safe space where you can explore your feelings, work through challenges, and develop strategies for a happier life. If you're not getting that, then it's time to re-evaluate.
I'm not going to give you a bunch of advice on how to fix things with your current therapist, because honestly, it sounds like you've outgrown them. Instead, I want to encourage you to have a brave conversation with your parents about finding a new therapist who's a better fit for you. You deserve someone who gets you and can help you tackle the issues that are important to you.
In the meantime, don't give up on therapy altogether! There are so many amazing therapists out there who can help you find your footing. Keep advocating for yourself, and remember that you're not alone in this struggle.
- Take a deep breath and have that tough conversation with your parents.
- Start exploring other therapists who specialize in the areas you need help with.
- Don't be afraid to reach out to online resources or support groups for extra guidance and connection.
You got this, friend! And remember, it's okay to take your time figuring things out. You're doing the best you can, and that's something to be proud of.
