Why is the "talk" called the "birds and the bees" - surely their sex life isn't that relevant?

Is it supposed to include the birds and the bees in the story? I knew from young what goes where and everything, like since I was 6ish. But about a year ago I got the “we don’t mind, as long as you’re safe.” talk. So I never had a proper one. I was just wondering.. :/ Lol

Answer #2

I don’t know really, but I think of it as sort of metaphorical. Bees have stingers that well, poke into you, and birds don’t. lol

Answer #9

Nah I won’t get it again. My parents are.. different. I updated the info in the question - do you get what I mean? :/

Answer #10

Because of the rhyme, the birds and the bees, the flowers and the trees, the sky up above and a thing called love, love being s*x and just shortened to birds and bees :)

Answer #11

I know i was just joking

Answer #12

neither does tapioca!!!!

Answer #13

I always thought it had to do with birds and bees being pollinators. By being pollinators, they assist plants in sexual reproduction. Without certain pollinators, specific species would suffer.

Answer #14

Im pretty sure this is the reason. Especially after watching a terrible old documentary called “sexual encounters of the floral kind”

Answer #15

lol That sounds absolutely delightful! Geez, even the title is cheesy!
