My son wets the bed what can I use to get rid of the smell?

Answer #1

I know what you are going through, I just wash all sheets, air materess as good as can in the sun is best but if he is wetting every night I know this is hard to do witha budy life I would just lean mattress on its edge in the room with window open and spray a disinfectant on it like glen 20. you could try pouring water on the matteress and washing it out then putting in sun. but whatever you do just wash sheets and clothes straight away so the smell can’t dry and set into fabric

Answer #2

Wash your sheets and bedding with your normal laundry soap but add baking soda to the wash. As for the mattress get a spray bottle add water and vinager and spray the mattress really good. Let it dry in the sun. in the future buy a waterproof mattress cover.

Answer #3

they have something called urin be gone (I think I spelt that right). I know what you mean the smell stays in the mattress.. You know to wash the sheets people are just rude. Wash all sheets, pillow cases and blankets with a fabric softener along with normal clothing soap. But also get that urin be gone. Thats what I did to my sons bed becaue hte dog was pissing in my sons bed because my son pissed the bed every ngiht. Good luck

Answer #4

oxi-clean should take the smell out nicely

Answer #5

wash the sheets, use febreeze… why does he wet the bed? try gettiing him those children underwear things, they are like diapers almost

Answer #6

I agree, wash them, and spray them with something like febreeze

Also you really do need to figure out why he wets the bed. Get to the root of the problem. If he’s 4 years or younger dont worry much, you just need to help him learn ( of course), but if he’s over the age of 4 it actually can be something serious & most people dont relize it because it “just wetting the bed”. You may want to think about a doctor

Answer #7

Children often wet the bed because they don’t realize they need to “go” when they’re asleep. It’s not a big deal and he’s sure to grow out of it, but you should bring him to the doctor to at least rule out kidney problems.

It’s difficult to get the smell out of a mattress - washing the sheets and spraying febreeze on the matress only masks the smell and it comes back out before long. The mattress will need a deep stream cleaning.

You may need to replace the mattress. Just make sure you use plastic sheets (under the regular ones, of course) or put some ‘pull-ups’ on your son at night.

Answer #8

I would put the mattress in the sun if possible and then put some bi-carb soda sprinkled and that should help absorb the smell. You can get plastic matress protectors at most stores and that can help to save the mattress for future wetting. Also I would get some pull ups for night time. More kids than people realise have night time bed wetting problems. If diabetes runs in the family I would also rule that out as it can be a cause of night time wetting.

You missed this one. They would wake me up when they got back form the tavern and wake me up. Could not go, would go back to bed. Wake up in the morning to wet. There was no getting over it except age. I was 12 or 13, I was in the navy and saw wetters. I understood so I never badmouthed but some did. But, yes, you are right, Like so many questions here, do get checked out by a doctor, When I was in the orphanage The nuns use to beat all of us wetters every morning. Welcome to understanding religion. There is no NEED to go to the toilet at night, we seem to be so relaxed that there is no pressure to go to the room,
