Son Clothing advice

Should I let my 8 year old son go to school wearing a white satin blouse and a black satin skirt that he enjoys wearing outside with his friends.

Answer #1

Be his mother, choose his clothes for him for school, he will get used to it. All kids get used to their parents parenting skills. Just think about it, if you let your kids start doing what they want, and you don’t give them options, they are going to run your life for YOU. Choose his clothes for him.

Answer #2

no way if you havent noticed boys only wer skirts in scottland and I as a kid myself (13 yr old girl ) wud be mortified if my mum made me wer that, that is if I was a boy my mum lets me pick my own clothes v same for my bro and my 2 sisters

Answer #3

Not in school. When he is at home he is protected by you, at school things are different and a lot of things arent accepted. How would you feel if he got bullied ?

Answer #4

no way, he would be made fun of and the teachers probably would not allow it. he’s only 8 and your the boss keep him protected. these days a lot of anger out there… better safe than sorry…

Answer #5

perhaps you could try getting him some satin pants instead of the skirt as it might just be a comfort thing for him kids will probably tease him but in my opinion, if hes happy with it, you should support it and tell him its okay and not to listen to what the other children say keep reassuring him

Answer #6

Well, if it was my son, I’m not sure what I would do…we have to let our kids be individuals and we have to support them (no matter how they dress or whatever lifestyle they have). But he’s only 8…he’s going to get picked on. Kids can be very cruel and why put your son through that if you don’t have to. Sorry if I’m not much help but in one way I can say “yeah go ahead and let him, afterall it is his life and he’s just trying to be himself” but in another way I can say “he’s only a little boy and why send him to school dressed like that knowing that he will get made fun of”. I guess it comes down to if you want to let your son be himself or if you want to keep him protected.

Good luck
