If you think about it this isn't such a cut and dry question.
Sperm are individuals, cans survive for a while outside their body, and even have their own food and locomotion.
One could argue that sperm are an animal or are in a phase of human development.

One thing (among several) that clinches the fact that sperm are not animals is that, ironically, they cannot reproduce.
Not unless you mean a sperm whale. Otherwise, it is a (reproductive) cell of an animal's body.
It is not an animal but is also called an animal cell used for reproductive purposes.
The thing that delivers it goes like an animal. It's a beast.
