does this sound like pre-diabetes?

I have a dry throat right now so can that be why i’m thristy I was bored so I was like on the computer looking at random things when this page for diabetes came up so i’m like cool and click on it and read the symptoms and it said about thirst at night and sometimes i’m thirsty and funky fruity breath and when i’m not chewing gum my breath smells like a downplayed version of morning breath but nothing fruity. I guess weight counts so i’m 131 pounds(probably more because holidays) and 5’6. I don’t have the healthiest eating habits but I exercise every other day.

People studying medicine often succumb to Medical Student Syndrome. Medical students develop a kind of hypochondria where they recognize symptoms of of diseases they are studying and convince themselves that they have it. Of course once in a while medical students do discover their aliments this way but in most cases it is a case of the student imagining or exaggerating their symptoms and latching onto a convenient but incorrect diagnosis. With the Internet and ready access to medical information now anyone can suffer from Medical Student Syndrome. I would still encourage you to see a doctor about your concerns. They will probably want to test your fasting glucose levels and possible your blood A1C levels. A1C used to only be used to determine how well diabetics were managing their blood sugar but recently doctors have started to use it to diagnose diabetes as well. In any case avoid sugar and white flour and eat more whole grains, vegetables, and fruit. This is very important for diabetics but also good advice for everyone else. Good luck!
