What - Could I get diabetes if I keep eating like this?

This is what I’d usually eat on a weekend… Breakfast - Toast or bacon sarnies Lunch - Ham sandwich & orange squash Snacks - Rich tea biscuits/shortbread biscuits/choc hob nob biscuts or 1/2 packets of crisps & water, sometimes scrambled egg or a banana Dinner - Anything really normal, but if we have a takeout its either fish&chips, pizza or on odd occasions, chinese & orange squash

On schooldays… Breakfast - A smallish bowl of cheerios, orange juice. Lunch - Hot dog/a toastie, orange juice & a brownie. Snacks - biscuits/crisps when I’m home & tapwater. Dinner - same as above (btw I always have it with veggies unless its a takeout)

I’m not fat, but I do actually eat a lot of sugary stuff and fatty stuff even if it doesn’t sound like much…

There is no single factor that causes type 2 diabetes. Some people are genetically predisposed to this disease but lifestyle choices are also a big factor.

Your diet doesn’t sound that bad to me; probably better than average though there is still room for improvement. More vegetables, fruit, and whole grains and less fried and processed foods would be a good change. You should also get regular exercise if you aren’t already.

If you have a family member who has diabetes you are at higher risk for developing it yourself. It is good to take an interest in improving your health but you shouldn’t have a morbid fear of any dissease. If you are worried you should discuss your own health risks with your doctor.

Your diet actually looks ok, except I would include more fruits and vegetables in it. As filletofspam pointed out there is no single factor for diabetes type 2.

However if you are obese and inactive you do increase your chances of developing it.
