I suggest reading and looking up Whelping a liter or dog Gestation. things you may need Whelping box blankets bulb syringe dental floss snuggle safe warm towles vet’s phone number on hand and ready and YES don’t allow the male near the female during labor, I do allow my two dogs together afterwards and my female will let them male know how close he can come to her , as they get older, he is in the box with his family.
