What's up with my sleeping issues?

Okay, I'm a 15 almost 16 year old girl, and I'm having some really bad sleep issues. It's been happening for quite a while, but now it's getting a bit annoying.. For starters, I can't sleep at night. It doesn't matter if I woke up at 5 am or noon, I cannot fall asleep until after 3, sometimes 4 in the morning. Also, I can't function on the standard 7-8 hours of sleep. If I get anything over 5 hours of sleep I am overly tired... To the opposite of that, there will be times when I'm perfectly awake and doing stuff then all the sudden, I'm hit with a wave of tiredness and pass out... I've done that school quite a few times, and then it happen just Wednesday while I was playing videogames at my friends house.. so.. yeah... any advice?
