Depends on the person. It’s not the quantity (hours) of sleep, it’s the quality of sleep that you need. I sleep 3-6 hours a night and feel energized while my mom sleeps 7-9 hours and says she’s always tired.

Scientifically, it all comes down to a hormone from the pituitary gland called Melatonin. In bodybuilding, this hormone allows muscle recovery while you sleep and helps you grow. In the average health world, this hormone is known for improving the quality of sleep and overall feeling after you wake up. Like all things that come from the pituitary gland, it only activates in certain conditions. Melatonin only activates when in darkness. This is why it’s called the hormone of the night, because it must be dark.

If you want to achieve better sleep, you can buy melatonin pills from any store. What they do is increase quality of sleep so you feel more refreshed.

Like I said though, it all depends on the person. Some people can go days without sleep and feel fine. Some can go a few hours and feel like it’s the end of the world.
