Should you wash a kids mouth out with soap? I think its okay but I need a second opinion

Answer #1

NO NEVER CUZZ IF THEY ACTENDTALLY SWALLOW IT THAT DHEY CAN BE ALERGIS AND DIE THEY CAN SUFFER A SCERIOUS MOUTH INFECTION AND IT CAN LEAD TO A STHOMIC ALUSSER TRUST ME THAT ALL HAPPEND TO ME CUZZ MY MOM WASHED MY MOUTH OUT WIT SOAP!!!

Answer #2

That is one of the stupidest forms of punishment ever.

First a warning, Then if it continues take away one of their prized possessions. If it keeps going keep taking away privileges. It will sure to make them straighten up.

Answer #3

My Mum used hot mustard…that seemed to work with me pretty well when I was a kid

Answer #4

no its not..there are better ways of washin your child wit soap…and there are also better ways then corporal punishment…like punishing them…takin sumthing away from them..

Answer #5

in my state it is considered child abuse and you could go to jail for it I live in alabama

Answer #6

if the bar of soap was toxic, wouldn’t it have to say something like, “DO NOT CONSUME,” or “TOXIC???” If nothing hints that the bar is toxic in any way, then there’s nothing wrong with it. however, the most amount of time a kid should have the bar in their mouth is NO MORE than 15 seconds… another good one is vinegar. its non-toxic cause we cook with it and it definitely sends a point…

Answer #7

No. I don’t think it’s healthy at all. What spartan512 said is agood idea. Warnings, take away toys/privileges. Soap is not a good idea.

My mom used to do that to me all the time. No child should ever have their mouth washed out with soap.

Answer #8

I’m going with spartan here, that’s just stupid… Why on earth would you stick something that could be poisonous in large amounts in your child’s mouth? What exactly is that teaching your child? As for well it was done to me, uhm yeah mother’s used to smoke, drink and take all sorts of drugs that we now know are harmful… no one today would try and defend drinking while pregnant with “but my mother used to drink and I turned out fine”. find alternative methods…

Answer #9

you realize you cant actually do that, right?

Answer #10

I honestly think that children should never be physically punished no matter what. I think that the whole soap thing is sick, and so is spanking, hitting…etc. children should not grow up learning their lessons with physical pain. Try talking to them, or timeouts.

Answer #11

depends on what they say.

I try not to swear but sometimes things do make me swear and my mum tells me off.

Don’t think I would like soap in my mouth but yes kids should not swear and I do my best not too.

Answer #12

aaahhh nooo! don’t do it or maybe do it. but soap tastes horrible.

Answer #13

no thats stupid I know it doesnt matter coming from me because Im a child myself but still soap does nothin but put a new taste in your mouth

Answer #14

I don’t believe in putting soap in a child’s mouth because in some rare situations it can cause an allergic reaction. The same is true of hot sauce or any other foreign substance. There are actual cases of children choking to death because something like this took place.

I am not opposed to spanking if it is done in a reasonable way. I don’t think objects should be used, but I admit I have turned my son over my knee a time or two in his underpants for a few hard slaps. I think spanking is less objectionable than putting soap or a foreign substance in a child’s mouth.

Answer #15

No.

Talk to them and tell them they shouldnt say that. And that its wrong. If they keep doing it maybe then you should.

But talking to them first is the best way to go

Answer #16

I’ve actually asked this question before on here - I say no. I’m sorry, but Soap is not meant to eat or digest and sticking something like that in your child’s mouth to me, is irresponsible. Soap contains things that can cause harm to a childs body if too much is digested and I think that any parent who does this should be investigated. There are other ways of disciplining a child.
