How can I stop hurting myself?

hey there I really need help I cant stop self harming I’ve been doing it alomost 5 years now and cant stop, I’ve spoken to 4 counsilers about it and im bout to see a 5th but im only doing that for my family!!! I’ve been told to take walks and all that when I want to cut but I cant do that at night time my dad wont let me walk in the dark, I cant write things down cus my step mum reads it, so yeah any other tips I need help!!! any advise will be welcome! thanks x jd

Hun, I’m really sorry that you got delt such a crappy hand, but from what I understand, it is going to take many years of therapy to help with your problems. Anorexia, depression, self-harm … any of these can and do cause great harm and potentially you could die from them. Your Step-mom is probably just trying to help you by understanding you and keeping you from harming yourself. You may see it as an invasion of privacy (which normally it would be), she may see it as trying to save your life (which in this case, I would agree). I wish you the very best. Try very hard to stick with therapy because you are fighting for your life. Good Luck!!!

I would suggest that you find a good therapist who will honestly listen to you because they want to help you, you too have to be willing to help your self in order to stop. I believe that you may have psychological problems and if you saw a psychologist they might be able tio identify the cause for your need of self harm. a Number of Individuals turn to anorexia, bulimia or self harm as a result of relieving the tensions that they are feeling.

What you need to do is find another way of relieving that tension by talking to a friend or listening to music if not being able to get it down on paper or going for walks.

I hope that you are able to recover before putting your self in serious harm.
