what do you think is the meaning of salvation.?
Well now that the meaning of the word salvation has been made clear on to the question. "Salvation in Jesus Christ" refers to what Jesus did in order to save us from hell.
Shortly after God created this universe and man, the first man sinned. As a result he and all his descendants (tat is the entire mankind) were corrupted and deemed unfit for heaven. We require to be saved from this situation. God planned an act of salvation right at that time itself and at the appropriate time He came down as Jesus and did what was necessary for our salvation. So we now have salvation in Jesus Christ.
salvation /sælˈveɪʃən/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [sal-vey-shuhn] Show IPA
–noun 1. the act of saving or protecting from harm, risk, loss, destruction, etc. 2. the state of being saved or protected from harm, risk, etc. 3. a source, cause, or means of being saved or protected from harm, risk, etc. 4. Theology. deliverance from the power and penalty of sin; redemption.
Something along that line...
Salvation is the freedom from the power of sin. This doesnt mean we're not accoutable for the things we do or are without consequences, but its freedom from the vicious cycle that seems to always overtake people. Its the cycle of digging yourself deeper in a situation where your always spiraling downward without hope of any freedom. :)
I think that salvation originally had nothing to do with the idea of an afterlife, but was instead an inner state of peace. The whole resurrection/afterlife idea was tacked on to appeal to the uninitiated masses.
Do you know what a covenant is? To sum it up for you, we were in a covenant relationship...we broke the covenant...the reward = death. Only a person, without sin could repay your debt for you = SALVATION :)
oookkk.. well I personally think its a bit like nirvana
