How does rubber protect you from lightning?

Answer #1

It doesn’t protect you completely. I believe it has bene proven that rubber tyres isn’t what offers you protection when in your car, but rather the fact that you are in the car yourself.

The reason it provides some form of protection is because it is an insulator and does not conduct electricity as easily as metal for example does.

Answer #2

the lightning would take the path of least resistance, which is through the car’s external casing and internal wirings into the tyres - which - when wet, also conducts electricity, finally dissipating into the ground.
