We have used traps and spray bout at home depot.
Can you afford an exterminator? Probably the most effective way.
not sure what one costs, never had to do one before. its not a huge problem now, trying to get it before it gets bad. we have a puppy kitten, and i am 8 months pregnant, so i need something effective yet safe.

get some combat gel it comes in a tube and you could put it where the high traffic area is. I promise you, they will start dying before the end of the night.
