Heritage months for groups like African-Americans, Hispanic Americans, etc. began mostly because there had been very little knowledge of their history and contributions among the general population. American History was being taught primarily from the perspective of European settlers and the Caucasian segment of the population.

So, most people did not know about things like Chinese immigrant work on US railroads, impact of urban migration on the black community during the Industrial Revolution, and the use of American Indian languages as code during WW1 and WW2. Since knowledge of these things is (hopefully) more widespread, I’d say having these months was a good idea.

And although there isn’t a “White Day” or “Caucasian Day”, individual nationalities often have days to commemorate their heritages, I.e. Irish, Italians, Germans, Polish, etc.

Haha the reason they don’t have a white history month and all that is because it would take 10 years to recount it all… let’s face it white people have basically done it all, They don’t need any hand out’s or a certain month or day to remember what they accomplished cause once again they’ve done it all. they are a very patient and tolerant people if you think about it for example : when someone says “your so white” in a playful insult white people really don’t care it makes no difference to them but reverse that and playfully say “your so black” and see what happens lol or when the Hispanic’s sued taco bell because they found that the animated dog was offensive to Hispanics but when you have a talking pig with his pant’s hanging low and beer belly sticking out listening to country music Caucasians don’t give a sht …It’s basically a case of the Son trying to make up for the sin’s of the father. I think it was horrible what our ancestor’s did to the African American people. But that was a long time ago and yet were still trying to make up for it now… But hopefully now with an African American president, We can Make everyone see that we don’t care what color your skin is because a person is person no matter what the color of their skin. But yeah getting back on topic if they were to hold an event were all white people got in free there’d be a fcking lawsuit somewhere down the line lolz

it probably would be considered racist. im not sayin all would say that but some would yell that. I dont see why but it mostly goes back to slavery, b/c whites had it better (even tho’ there was whites in slavery also) I have nothin against other nationalities and/or color. I try to get along with all, but there would be some to say its raciest.

It also varies from state to state, or even city to city… I never have noticed anyone looking askance at “color” in neighborhoods in Seattle or Spokane…and here, they don’t even have “neighborhoods” separated by color…

Utopia has point tho about “history”…all history is rich and colorful…and allows the a full view of whole peoples…in this melting pot of a country, lessons should be spread out to cover it all…

So I didn’t read any of the previous answers so forgive me if this was said, but yes it would be racist, which is stupid. Why is there no United White College Fund? Why is there no White history month? I suppose that would be wrong… It seems we “owe” it to the minorities. It is no different than anyone saying you were racists for not voting for Obama because he is black, but millions of people voted for him because he is black. If you ask me that is just as racist! Maybe now that we will have a black president we can start moving past all this.

Yes it would be considered racist, which is funny because I read a prediction that by the year 2048 (I believe) that whites will become a minority in the U.S. Not that it matters, racism will exist somewhere with someone until we procreate ourselves into one color.

Then I guess we’ll discriminate against blonds and redheads (who will be a definite minority).

I don’t agree with utopia. But that probably cause I don’t live in the same country. In my country, if they break into your house you get killed just cause you white and if you a white male(even if you qualified) you won’t find a job. everyone is leaving the country and we are not allowed to honour anything in our history cause then it is called racist. I am not a racist by the way - I am just tired of racial issues and wish that skin color didn’t matter at all, cause it shouldn’t, it works differently in different places and to get back on the topic I think it is cause then white people will get sued or something. Around here you can’t even talk about the past without being called racist.

There isn’t a caucasian day because EVERY day is caucasian day. The vast majority of the history taught in school is white history. It is still easier for whites to get jobs, housing, loans, etc. If a white teen enters a store, he is usually not automatically followed. If a white person is jogging through a black neighborhood, the police usually will not be called. If a black, middle eastern or hispanic person is jogging through a white neighborhood, you can bet someone will phone the police.

There has been such imbalance in this country regarding race there have been certain days or months designated to honor our cultural differences.
