Why do my points go down whenever i update my profile?

I highly doubt they are going down because you are updating your profile, updating your profile has nothing to do with your points.

Are you looking at the leader board, or your profile page when you see your points?

On the leader board, your points change all the time because it only shows how many you’ve earned in the last 48 hours. On your profile page, the points don’t change. It shows how many points you have in total.

Also, another reason a user may notice a decrease in their points, is because when you ask a question…and the question gets moved to status updates, then the points you earned for asking that question get taken back. You don’t earn points for status updates.

I look on my profile, it said i had 34. I updated my profile once, then went to 33, updated again, it went to 31.

You didn’t lose the points because you updated your profile - you lost points because a couple of your questions got moved to the status update board.
