Periods/eggs confused please answer =)

Ok I know this may sound like a completely stupid question but I’m confused. When a women has her period ever month she’s losing the eggs that havent been implanted with sperm right?aka shes not pregnant so her body gets rid of them. My question is if that’s how it works then how would a women know if she has a low egg count and what causes a low egg count? When you have your monthly period how many eggs are you losing when you bleed? Thanks

Answer #1

Some women do release 2 eggs at the same time, this is what causes unidentical twins. I know, I know some unidentical twins. :] But normally, women release one egg per cycle. I’m not sure about a low egg count..

Unlike men, who keep on producing sperm, women are born with the total number of eggs that they will ever have (naturally have, that is). And they lose them at the normal rate of one a month, with their periods.

It’s rare for a woman to have a ‘low egg count’ unless there are genetic rasons in the family, because this is something that nature has pre-determined. It has nothing to do with your own lifestyle, diet, etc - the eggs were all there when you were born.

Women who have difficulties conceiving usually have other problems, for example in connection with their tubes, or with ovulating. As a rle, the eggs are just sitting there, waiting.
