Why do some people lie about their age knowing it has to come out one way or another in a relationship?

cos they want to feel like a bigger person inside and if the person they like is older, then the think or know the person wont go for them. I think its mostly because they dont relise what could come out in the end.

Because at first they are either too insecure of themselves, or was planning to be a player but ended up actually liking the girl. Honestly there are different reasons for everyone, say a woman would want to be younger than the man but the man is younger so she says shes younger or the other way around where the man wants to be older the woman is instead. Many unreasonable excuses for this lie. I say to just go with the damn truth.

they might be scared, they might want to be/think they are that age…people do it for their on indvidual reasons. some think their partner will only be with them if there round that age, others lie because they want to thik there old enough and “legal”…it all depends

It could be for different reasons. Most likely because they don’t want to scare the person off by an age difference, or simply lie to get a better chance with them. I’m sure when they do that, nonetheless, they aren’t thinking much about the consequences. It kind of makes me sick some people will lie about their age. They shouldn’t have anything to hide… and honestly, if a person lies and says they are younger (or older) it makes me question their intentions…

They want to look younger.

It is bait and switch–we all do it. You lure the person in with falsehoods and hope by the time they find out the truth, the relationship will be solidified and a little white lie about age wouldn’t derail an otherwise perfectly good relationship.

Is lying about your age really any different than a nose job, hair coloring, colored contacts, teeth whitening, push up bras and other little things we do to entice a potential mate?
