While i will not judge a teenage mother whose birth control failed, condom ripped, or safe sex didnt work for them. I feel i have every right to judge a teen who tried to have the child, didnt use any form of protection, and wanted to get pregnant. As a mother it makes me sick.

Basically I agree with everything Mandyloo said. But honestly I don’t judge a pregnant teen when I see one. There’s a chick who’s pregnant in one of my classes in school right now. I don’t judge her one bit. Nobody does it seems. I don’t know her situation. But I do think it’s completely messed up when a teen gets pregnant on purpose. Many times on this site I’ll see something like, “Oh I’m 13, 14, 16, etc and want a baby. Me and my boyfriend love eachother and are ready for one. We’re gonna be good parents.” Blah blah blah. When you have raised a child, paid hospital and medical bills, clothed, fed, and cared for a child solely on your own - youll understand and youll change your opinion. I cant figure out whether this is funny or sad. And it is spelt ‘judgmental’. Bottom line is, statistically kids of teen mothers do not do as well as other kids. Whether spelling is a factor or not, maturity appears to have a significant impact. Being judgmental has to do with discrimination based on assumption. Looking at statistics that show that children born to teenage mothers dont do as well, and judging on that basis, doesnt make it judgmental. It makes it common sense.

Yes. There is. If there wasnt an innocent child involved, then by all means, I am sympathetic to whatever. But when a stupid decision results in an innocent child being brought into this world to live with an immature and stupid teen, I think we have a right to be negative. I think we have a right to be more than negative. I work with parents who have lost their kids to abuse or neglect. Wonder of wonders, most of them had kids as teenagers. I reserve the right to hold a negative view of these people. It is also really difficult to take you seriously when you have no idea what spell check is.

You just said pretty good for being young. You pretty much just supported everyones argument against teen pregnancy with that one statement. By stating “for being pretty young” you implied that being a teenage parent is not the ideal situation, and would in fact be easier if they were older and able to hold down a steady career.

I would say that I shouldn’t be concerned, but I should. If no more than for the simple fact that money comes out of MY paycheck to give money to some of those teen moms. I am fully aware that not all teen moms are not on public assistance, nor do I have a problem with public assistance. I do however have a problem with children who think its a good idea to have a child of their own when they really can’t afford it. The rest of our society has to have money deducted out of their paycheck to support that child. Not only that, but chances are that neither of those children will have the optimal childhood. The parent’s childhood is over for the next 18-21 years, and the baby may have to either be raised by a kid or a grandparent.

Because they are are generally too young and unprepared. Therefore, teen pregnancy is something that people generally discourage and see as a negative thing. There is plenty of time to have children when you are not still a child yourself.

I’m 14 soon going to be 15 but i am not planning no baby i know i can’t get a job yet to support a baby and be going to school at the same time, yea i would have my mom’s support and help but i don’t like to depend on other people. I’m not going to say ALL but a lot of teens that get pregnant are usually under the influence of something and i’ve known about MANY girls who while their pregnant they still drink and smoke. do you really think that their going to be a good mom? probably not.

Oh lord. Once they create a child, it’s not just their life anymore. It’s the child’s life too. And saying that we shouldn’t get involved, that we have nothing to do with any of it, is just horrible. There’s a large portion of children of teen moms that are abused, usually because of that horrid feeling of having ruined their life with one stupid careless thing. It’s not about judging anyone. It’s about looking at the facts, looking at the point that people who aren’t responsible enough to use protection, to be careful with something with those obvious consequences, aren’t ready to look after a child.

It doesn’t have anything to do with someone hating teenage girls. It’s because at that point, you’re not only possibly ruining your life, but someone else’s just because you want to fulfill some desire of yours.

A parent has one of the toughest jobs in the world, and even ones that have dealt with the dilemma of dealing with kids still can’t handle the tedious task of actually babying a child for most of their lives. I don’t know how clear anyone can make this, you just can’t do it, your parents are still watching over you and from what it looks like, your own stubbornness is going to get back at you. That’s one of the worst qualities any parent can have, being stubborn and blocking out all opinions.

Once you decide to have a child, it’s no longer “mind your own business, this is my life” you can forget about that, you have another life to take care and if you’re not willing to do it right, someone will intervene. Face it, this isn’t remotely about you and what you want, no, it’s about what the child needs and wants. If you can’t even understand, you might as well ask why is it you want to have a kid in the first place? It’s not a toy, it’s a person.

Because it’s ridiculous for a teenager who is not an adult yet to have a child. Most teenagers who do have kids do not get higher education, get stuck in menial jobs all their lives and their children are less educated than educated people that is a fact. Also I think it is a good thing that people freak out about it, it should under NO circumstances in my opinion become an acceptable thing in our society. Teenagers should use protection and get educated about sex and not get pregnant.

I was a teen mom. And I still won’t hesitate to reprimand someone for not playing it safe. I love my kids for sure, but my social life was GONE at 18. Not just dwindled, but gone. I was irresponsible and I still regret it. The dad almost never sticks around either. Mine didn’t. sigh teenagers are too emotionally unstable and selfish to have kids. Period.
