Why are people not allowed to go nude in the US?

I believe it has to do with majority rules for the most part. While religion shouldnt affect our laws since its a country who practices freedom of religion, it did affect alot of our laws that were made social norms and standards in most places. The US has a tendancy to only see nudity as sexual and has a hard time seperating it, so therefore its seen as indecent. Remember that christians dont believe in sex before marriage, and our country was founded by christians and christian laws. If they dont believe in sex before marriage they are hardly going to be okay with people going nude and showing their privates.

I’ve also wondered this having grown up in both American and European cultures. I don’t think there is any one explanation for why nudity is so taboo in the U.S., but there is definitely a contradiction like ty said. I think the American public is becoming more accepting of nudity, but the law is just slow to change because there really isn’t any strong push to change it like there was in several European countries over the last 100 years. Christianity certainly has shaped all Western views on nudity in the past, but Europeans are more accustomed to seeing nudity in art and sculptures, even in religious form.

its great cus everyone get their stuff out and walk around and some play football and everything just bounces around.

i got no idea why america doesnt have a nudie beach… maybe some ppl do have land on a beach and hold their own on their own property or would that be illigal to go nude on your own property?

I don’t think you can go nude on your own property (outside your house)…I think that would be considered indecent exposure. :/

Omg , why would you ask that? There could be some little kid walking down the street, so obsl,you can’t just let all your parts hang out! That would be unacceptable, immature, and just down right gross!

Umm…I asked that because I would like the reasoning behind this particular law…and if you read the rest of my question…I’m not asking whether YOU think it is wrong or right. Plus, you act like I am for it…I never said whether I was for, or against it.

The US is a very provincal country. The idea that our bodies are shameful largely comes from Cristianity. In general people are freer with their bodies in most other Western counteries. The US are mostly prudes.

You could argue that there are a lot of pervs here because the country’s so uptight. If it weren’t forbidden fruit, the people wouldn’t want it so badly, would they?

Kids get their views about nudity from adults. If we teach them our bodies are disgusting and shameful that is what they will believe.

Why is a nude body gross? Because that is what we are taught as kids.

I lived in Germany for a long time too. Just as many “pervs” In europe (if not more).

You can be nude in Portland, Oregon (where I am from) So long as you are trying to cause arousel or trying to be aroused. But ehem, just try to walk down the street nude and see what happens!!! Although. . . once a year bicyclist have a nude ride through downtown. I hope they wash the seats when they get home! (ewe) :) We also have nude beaches. i dont go. Too many old people. (ewe).
