Night terrors!

I experienced a night terror last night. That’s the only way I know how to explain it. Let me elaborate. I dont know too many people who have felt mentally awake yet physically unable to move. That has happened to me too many times but last night was different. I talked to a woman once who called this a “ghost ride.” where a spirit hovers over your body. Also, I cannot find anything on the internet that compares to that except how people have out of body experiences when they meditate. The one thing I found helpful about oobe that I can compare to my experience is that when you have an oobe you sometimes get whats called a third eye. Where even with your eyes closed your mind can see. So last night I had a scary dream which I had woke myself up from only to fall right back asleep into it. The second time I did this and woke myself up the hair on the back off my neck stood up for I was sure I was hearing breathing not my own. I held my breath only to be proven that the breathing was in fact not my own. I may have been half asleep but I proceded to look around my room to find myself alone. I fell back asleep only to awake a third time. I believe I only awoke mentally for when I tried to move it was merely impossible. As I tried to sit up I felt as if a force was pulling me back down. There was a hand covering my mouth and one around my waist, pulling. I tried to bite the hand but my mouth would not open. I tried to kick and flail around but no movement. And although my eyes felt as if they were glued shut I saw a glimpse of my feet trying to kick but they were barely moving. I tried to yell “no” but I only heard it in my mind. I guess I had woken up physically at that point because when I finally could open my eyes the pulling force was no longer there. It was only in an instant but I can’t imagine that being just a dream. It felt so real but I can’t find any answers online! I need some facts. Opinions are welcome as well. If anyone knows anything about this so called “ghost ride” I’d be interested in that as well. Thank you so much!

Last night this happened and something pushed down hard on my rip cage and tomorrow im going to the doctors, my brother thinks a cracked my rib..funny thing is I didnt leave my house for the last week so what would have casuse it? Other then the hand I felt pinning me down last night?

It’s called sleep paralysis, and is a quite common sleep disorder. It has nothing to do with spirits, demons, or anything supernatural.

In REM sleep, two things happen – you dream prolifically, and your body enters a natural state of paralysis. The paralysis is there to keep your body from acting out all the things that you’re doing in your dream. Take away the paralysis, and you get a sleepwalker. Take away the REM sleep, and you get someone who’s brain is awake but whose body never got the message that REM sleep is over.

What makes SP even more terrifying for those who don’t know what’s happening is sometimes, snatches of the dream carry over into your suddenly conscious brain, leading to all manner of hallucinations. The combination of the two leads people to report ghosts, aliens, and other creatures in the room with them, all while being held down by some unknown force.

Read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

Night terrors is a completely different sleep disorder altogether.

this has happened to me a few times actually, I cant really explain it though. I’ve had that type of dream and I’ve heard breathing like that before too when I woke up, I felt like someone was standing next to my bed, so I did what you did and held my breathe and sure enough, it wasnt my breathing I was hearing.

Hi there,

My grandma used to say that they pinn you down to force you to listen to them because they feel ignored, they are not trying to scare you.

Has someone close to you passed away recently?

Try asking them what they want, tell them you are listening.

Hope that helps

This happens to me all the time, which is the reason for me not sounding all excited about it…There’s all kinds of explanations for it, but they all sound like bull…The first time it happened, I was so scarred trying to call my mom, but everything was so slow!!! Now,I could kinda control it, as weird as it may sound…I could let it last for a longer time or a short time! Hit me up, I’ll tell you how to…lol, I know its scary, but when your as bored as I get, it could be a little exciting…

I just posted a comment that had to do with this something similar happened to me I felt as if I was awake but I couldn’t open my eyes I was trying to move but couldn’t I felt like I was shaking I woke up but it was still the dream because when I closed my eyes the same thing happen I couldn’t move it felt like a life time but it probably was only like a few seconds and when I woke up for real my heart was beating really fast and I can’t be sure but I don’t think this was the first time I’ve felt like that before and I don’t really like it. Oh and I could hear my mom no not hear her but I felt like she was there but when I woke there was no one in my room. I didn’t want to fall asleep again.
