I have a felony conviction from 1985, and have been clean ever since. I have been told that I cannot obtain a rifle license to hunt with due to this fact. I am an honest citizen, never went back to crime, which was difficult with two college degrees, and no job better than fast food joints for years due to my old record. And I never went back to the CEO money I was making as a large dealer, I went straight, not from fear, from intention. From my moral compass change. Now, it seems I still have a problem. Also I am self employed, and when slow I applied for a consulting job in financial industry, stocks and bonds. I don' t know if they did a check, but I do know I told the interviewer, who offered me a job on the third interview about my conviction. Figured I'd save them some time, as he was looking only at my resume. He called two days later and told them he made an error, somebody was already hired. Is this what to expect until end of days? We will have that tag on us the the of our lives. What really brought it to the front was 911. Since that day everybody is so scared that if you have any type of background they don't want to hire you. Mine goes back to 1984 ad I still put up with it and I can no longer carry or have any weapons. If I'm caught hunting I can go back to prison even if I'm just hunting with friends. Ohio was tring to get jobs for ex-felons on if you stole money etc. you can't work with it, but still no one will hire you cause of a being a felon.
