Why should taxpayers have to pay thousands of dollars for a photo-op?

The unannounced low fly over of the Statue of Liberty for a photo-op costs Thousands of Tax-payer dollars (which the ‘most open’ administration ‘ever’ will not release the true numbers) and causing senseless panic - one would hope they’re smart enough to try and save money in this current economic climate - They never heard of ‘PhotoShop’ ?

* didnt anyone else notice in all the videos of plane that it looked cloudy or foggy in the back ground

No problem. They can just clean it up with photoshop. By the way, these are the same guys we just entrusted with $1 trillion for “stimulus”.

Answer #4

Your right editor, if they had not done the fly over then there would be no need for the pilot that flew AF-1. Because everyone knows that Obama only needs to tap his slippers 3 times and say “Yes I can” to be teleported to any destination he choices.

Answer #5

I agree it was a huge waste of money, but as someone with a journalism degree, I can tell you that Photoshop is not an option. Jobs would be lost.

Answer #6

Agreed, it was a waste and poorly mishandled. Obama was pissed over it, and order an immediate investigation.

The cost depends on who you are asking. They are saying it is between 28k and 210K. The bigger number is based on the GAO’s average cost of operation for the aircraft over its life time, at something like 56,518 per hour. But that is with full crew and pasengers. The lower number is from the air force, and represents the actual dollars spent in manpower and costs for this particular short flight.

Amblessed, were you concerned over the cost of Bush’s mission accomplished photo op on the Abraham Lincoln? That was estimated to cost between 100K and 1 Million. Of course with Bush administration accounting practices we might never know the real cost.

Answer #7

They said on the news this morning that it cost $328,000 just for them to scare the hell out of everyone. I,m not a photograper but didnt anyone else notice in all the videos of plane that it looked cloudy or foggy in the back ground, I would think that on that day it would have been a great picture.

Answer #8

I agree, its quite dumb how they do all this stuff during the time of which money should be reserved for more understandable reasons in the future.
