Need help finding out if my puppy has dander and will shed

I just got a maltese fox terrior puppy he looks more like the dad short hair. I can’t tell if its fur or hair and we had him for two days. Im worried he will shed and be smelly. I have a morkie and he doesnt shed or smell. I see flakes on my new puppy and can smell him and wasnt’ sure if this is how he will always be.we have a small house and four kids, I have been happy with my other dog and thought he would enjoy company, he is 2 1/2 years old, I just don’t want to make a big expensive mistake. The smell is important to me.

Well, being smelly goes with individual dogs, not the breed (or cross breed)…if you already “smell” him, then there are products on the market to help with that (Dermascent is a natural product, which you drop down their back once a week for a month, then twice a month for a month, and finally it becomes a once a month deal)…also, Fish Oil caps help with oder (the Omega’s)…a very cheap suppliment.

As for the shedding…a Maltese/Yorkie cross has parents that neither shed…a smooth Fox Terrier, however, sheds a LOT…and if this one takes after the FT, then you’re going to have hair. Fish Oil also helps with shedding.
