It could also be a tension headache. If you are feeling this pain all over your head and it is constant, not throbbing, then it is probably a tension headache. These are typically caused by stress. What you need to do is... well pretty much sleep in complete silence. The only way I ever get rid of my tension headaches is to take a quiet, dark nap. Tylenol or ibuprofen never helps mine but every person is different!
Actually, only about 1/3 of migraine sufferers get migraines with aura (aura in this context meaning any visual disturbance).
Photosensitivity is usually present though.
Unfortunately migraine with aura sufferers have higher risks of heart attacks and double the risk of strokes. Sufferers should do everything they can to reduce the risk.
I'm just going with what my doctor and my opthamologist call them. My guess is that they have several names - including 'cheating' migraines ... this from my daughter who has the full blown painful kind.
I TRY not to grin, but I am thankful that (so far) the most I have to do is not drive during an episode.
Yup - and I did list both (plus)
Several family members have regular migraine attacks, and I have OCULAR migraine attacks - that is, I have ALL of the visual components at various times, but none of the pain. Sort of the wimpy half-brother to regular migraines.
It certainly can. For me the worst part of a migraine is the light sensitivity and my vision gets all blurry. And lol. hedgecortha, you don't feel brand new after they go away, you feel tired and like you just had to much to drink.
An ocular migraine refers to the visual disturbance that may or may not be accompanied by a headache. If your doctor said you "just" had an ocular migraine that would be another way to refer to an atypical migraine.
It can. Also intense throbbing.
Almost all TRUE migraines are preceded or accompanied by visual phenomena - auras, shadows, shimmering, light sensitivity, etc. Additionally they can also include nausea.
bimjob, migraines without headache are called atypical migraines. That is what most of mine are these days though I still get a few whopper headaches a year.
