Do you believe that life is just a dream, and that when we die...we will actually be waking up?

I’ve heard people believe this…and I don’t quite understand it, nor do I believe it. Does anyone know anything about this (explanation), or do YOU believe in this?

Answer #1

wow. I never thought of it that way, it could be possible though. but then again, when go to sleep and dream, so its like a dream within a dream?

Answer #2

wow a dream within a dream would be kind of weird :S

Answer #3

omg, that is so eird, so we woould be dreaming of us doing what were doing?i never thought of it that way wither, and yeh it could be possible..lol

Answer #4

I don’t believe it, I feel it’s just another one of those things like, religion and the thought of an “after life” that people use to feel better about death.

Answer #5

So when you go to sleep and dream, youre dreaming about sleeping and dreaming? Yep, that’s perfectly logical in every single way. -.-

Answer #6

that in my mind makes more sense than us just dreaming and then waking up when we die

Answer #7

lol i dont believe it either =p

Answer #8

But its possible

Answer #9

I don’t think so, and I hope not. I feel like life would be one big waste of time if we all woke up and it was like “just kidding!” What a cruddy dream it would be, too. I can’t even fly!

Answer #10

I think if it were true, we would be able to do “impossible” things…like fly. We would be able to do whatever we want, if it were all a dream.

Answer #11

Exactly :)

Answer #12

Wow, that’s intense as! Haha.

Answer #13

While I have heard of this before, the movie Inception really portrays it well, aside from the forcing people into the dreams thing. There’s also the Matrix theory, the one shown in the Matrix movies. People have actually tried to kill themselves to pull out of the dream, not able to take not knowing any more. I know someone that did that. I, personally, have no opinion. I believe that this is whatever it is, and regardless of what it is, while it’s interesting to consider the different possibilities, I’m living it and might as well make the best of it.

Answer #14

I seriously doubt it. I’d be p!ssed if it was. That would basically mean to me that you’re living a lie and nothing’s real.

Answer #15

this is sorta how i feel but this is what i believe, i still feel like i am four years old and sleeping and i am never waking up in this dream i am having now. even though i know its not a dream i feel like i am still four sleeping dreaming about my life.. but thats what i want to happen. but it never comes true. bcuz i really miss being little.

Answer #16

Lol that is so true =/

Answer #17

I used to believe it, but it scared me too much.

Answer #18

It’s not religion so much as philosophy. Fine line, big difference. The idea of this all being a dream is scarier to me than this being the end of it all.

Answer #19

I dont believe it myself, but I can sort of see why some people do. Sometimes life doesnt feel real to me. Because of my anxiety disorder, and sometimes my migraines too, I get the feeling of depersonaliation and derealisation a lot, so I often feel like either myself, or the world around me isnt real. When I feel like that it doesnt seem like much of a stretch to think of dying like waking up.

Answer #20

If that was the case then life would have no purpose at all. On the other side some people do live their lives as in a dream: They live as though they weren’t going to ever die. For me the question is: How am i taking advantage of every minute of my life, since once i die i won’t be able to change what i did. And: how do YOU live your life?

Answer #21

…k

Answer #22

well, according to the question, its like saying we’re dreaming all of this, so that means this body is not an actual, real body (metaphorically speaking) but, we go to sleep in this “dream” so that cancels out the idea of this being a dream, as we are able to create another dream, which makes us the more important power in our lives, and goes towards the meaning of life, but there is no meaning, it depends on what you do with your life, and you have the power to control that :D

Answer #23

no, I dont think so but did u get that from the movie inseption…. or interseption whatever its called, good movie!! I dont think so, but Im not going to say that were not… anything is possible! Good question, makes u think…

Answer #24

good point!!

Answer #25

but dreams dont have any purpose at all and we still enjoy them, So life would have a point, a point of being fun and exciting, besides what is the point of life?? Besides being able to expeirience things…… and we could do all that in a dream to.

Answer #26

It’s still not proven whether dreams have a purpose, there are a few theories as to what they do for us, from sorting through the information we pick up during the day, to pulling our problems out for us to dream with them, even if not in reality. Life already has practically no purpose, even if we are not currently within a dream. Almost everyone lives as if they aren’t going to die, purely because they don’t want to think about it. Those that have accepted death live differently than those that fear it.

Answer #27

hope that made sense……

Answer #28

yeah thats true… And thats basically what I was sayin about the whole life not really havin a meanin thing. But I still think that it could be possile that were living in a dream. I thought the movie interception was a great movie and think about it, there dreams sometimes became their reality so who are we to say that life isnt a dream. I agree with u though…….

Answer #29

No i believe that life is the most precious thing life is real its not a dream .
