So since getting my tubes tied is now out of the questionsince i cant afford it at the moment, im back to birth control after i have my daughter. Ive been on ortho-tri-cyclen lo for years, although it failed twice on me (which is how i got my two children) so i am not wanting the pill again because i do not want any more children.
Depo the most effective contraception, and its very convenient - one shot every three months or something. I have used levlin, but it aggrivated my focal migraines. I currently use noriday progesterone only contraception which I am not entirely happy with. Its pretty good, because it has made me very regular with my periods, but I also get random bleeding which is irritating. No focal migraines though so thats something. There is another progesterone only pill which is as effective as a combined pill (I forget the name though) because it does actually prevent ovulation unlike most mini-pills. Progesterone only (including depo) is your only option if you are planning to breastfeed.
I Am 52 Now.. Too Old
For Those Pills I Think. I Used Ortho Tri Cyclen From Around 18 Till I Was 43.. Doc Said After 45.. Too Old For Pills. I Had Cycles That Were Very Much On Schedule When On Those
Pills.. Cycle Shorter...I Am In Perimenopause Now.. Real Close To Meno pause At 54 Or So. Still Have A Cycles But Very Erratic And Far Between. I Am Not Taking Any Birth Control Now..Because Over 50.I Don't Know If I Can Even Get Pregnant At 52.. Not Too Likely At All. Didn't Trust Anything But The Pill.
I've been on Nordette for the past two years and haven't had a single side effect. If the pill is giving you issues, why not try the patch? I know from experience in the pharmacy and a few friends that it works very well for certain women who couldn't use the pill and is very effective. Also try and stay away from the depo shot. It causes osteoporosis and other nasty effects and there is no reason that you should stop getting periods.
Have you considered the coil? I had a bad experience with it, but apparently it's not recommended until you've had at least one child, and at the time, I didn't, but I know a lot of people who had no problems at all with it.
I use the nuva ring and I dont find it bad and a lot of my friends who use it never had any problems with it either, also heard the iud was really good
The period stuff doesn't happen at all. Having your tubes tied is higher up, and it keeps certain hormones from causing the monthlies to begin with.
Depo-Provera I saw on tv and it works as long as you don't miss a shot (it's an injection)Im sure you know what it is.
I was on depo b4 I got my tubal and it had one good advantage it stopped my periods alltogether so that was nice
Why does he not get fixed, less money and it is a day surgery.
Where does the period stuff go if you have your tubes tied?
Plus, tube tying is much, much more dangerous.
