What is the journey of a protein from when it is made in the cell to when it is released out of the cell?
What organelles does it go through? Why does it go through these organelles? How is the protein changed?
well it is formed by ribosomes (either free or bound to the rough endoplasmic reticulum), modified by the golgi apparatus (sugar groups are added etc.), packaged into vesicles which are marked by specific proteins to mark it for exocytosis then in makes its way to dock at the cell membrane, assisted by various proteins such as rab and snare. Thats a very basic description though, in reality its alot more complicated
