  the nucleus contains the genetic material, DNA. Thus, without it, you will be called a prokaryotic cell (PC). A PC contains no nucleus, but it has genetic material that resides in the cytoplasm. so, to answer your question directy, if there was no nucleus then you are a PC.

  The nucleus is the "brain" of the cell, so if it was taken away the cell would die as it wouldn't be able to preform any functions
