Jeremiah chapter 10 sounds like our christmas tree

Is this day made up for a deception of idolizing, or do you think that it is a pure authentic day for jesus christ.? If it is a deception should we reconize it and help others or do we just keep things as they are, and dont create kaos. you know I personaly love holidays, but since I’ve been heavy in the bible I seem to have just not treated our holidays as anything but just another day. I feel that we need to let our children and each other remember that jesus was the best gift we we,ll ever recieve in our intire life. what is everybody,s thought on this…

I agree, Jesus Christ is the greatest gift mankind could ever recieve - all man has to do is accept this gift but as God’s word says ‘Few’ will be in number that find and follow the straight and narrow way to the gate, wide is the way that leads to destruction - it’s all up to each persons choice…Take care !!

you all have good points but in reality if fts more of a pagan holiday than a christmas for buying for each other than giving to the needy which jesus made us understand that his love, tears, and giving us second chance to join him and his father is so much more than material gifts of this world , and I really personally think that to having our children worry about material gifts of this world is very decepted to them. for materials things of this world do not last for ever. but to have their soul ready for our father in heaven is the best gift that anybody could give each other and their children. their is only one time to help them in this life please make a difference for them. for your reward from our father is the best gift of all. love RAY (AKA) LIGHTBULB

To tell you the truth, I don’t know if he was actually referring to Christmans Trees. However, as many others have mentioned, Christmas does have pagan roots. As does many of the modern ‘Christian’ holidays. God would not create a holiday that would push us into stress or debt. The holidays that should be practiced are the ones mentioned in the bible: the ‘Jewish’ holidays - which contrary to belief, Jesus celebrated them. All in all we should celebrate the life of Christ in all that we do.

Answer #4

Christmas trees are not a deception, they’re tradition from another religion that was absorbed into Christianity.

Answer #5

lightbulb- I agree with you on holidays, I used to really enjoy them, however, now, they seem false. Too many times, there is a lot of stress associated with holidays.

God is not against us being happy. Quiet the contrary, Jesus said that he came to give us abundant life. And when we follow his plan, we can achieve this.

God is concerned about our heart attitude, he wants all of our allegiance. He wants to be the center of our attention.

Answer #6

Jesus is the core reason for Christians to be joyful, so I believe we can and should celebrate holidays any and every way that keeps Him at the centre. The traditions of our countries, our history and of other countries may well fit into the celebrations - they just shouldn’t take away from Jesus. I don’t think a Christmas tree does that!

Jeremiah 10 is referring to the sort of phallic poles that were put up for the worship ceremonies of fertility gods. I agree that the description does sound a bit like the Christmas tree, but the motives and the rituals… not the same at all…
