Is watching pornography a sin for Roman Catholics?

As far as amine goes, read the basic definition of pornography from the Catechism again.

‘Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to 3rd parties.”

Those would fall under the category of simulated sexual acts.

Yes, it is a sin. In the bible, it says that when a man looks at a woman with lust in his heart, that he has already comitted adultery with her. Adultery is a sin and is stated as such in the ten commandments. Hope that helps!

According to Catholic teaching, yes it is.

The magisterium (the pope and the bishops in union with him) has condemed pronography in “Catechism of the Catholic Church” under the 6th commandment (thou shalt not commit adultery). It reads as follows:

“Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to 3rd parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world. IT IS A GRAVE OFFENSE. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials” (CCC paragraph 2354 emphasis added).

Also consider what Christ had to say about lust in the heart: “I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with lust has committed adultery with her in his heart” (Mt 5:28).

Pope John Paul 2 spoke extensively about human sexuality and lust in particular. he said that lust consists of the devaluation of the person lusted after as a “mere object for me”. As Christians, he said, we are called to love our neighbor as ourself, meaning that we desire the highest and best goods for them.

You’re personal opinion is wrong, and if you are a Catholic, better do more research. If you commit a mortal sin, or a grave sin, such as looking at pornography, by the Catholic church, you must give your confession to a priest in order to be forgiven by God. If are conscious of having a mortal sin on your soul, the connection between you and God is broken, and in order to reestablish the connection, you must confess to God through a priest. You are actually speaking with God during confession and letting Him know you are sorry, and by the graces received through the priest’s Holy Orders, he has the power to forgive sins through Christ.

Any lustful desire or action is a sin, if it’s not directed toward your married partner, husband or wife.
