Is this photo evidence of a ghost?

Please see the two photos on my main page. They are both the same pic, I have just changed one to black & white for clarity.

I took the pic about 20 years ago in a very old house in a place in Devon, England called Chagford.

The building at the time was a small hotel called Whiddon House and was originally built as a kings hunting lodge.

The photo was taken a few minutes after my friends and I arrived and it was taken without a flash. (Hence the serious expression on my friends face as I told her to stand totally still for a second)

We did not get the film developed until a few weeks later.

I sent the photo and the negatives to Kodak, and they confirmed that it is not a double image or that the film had not been tampered with in any way, nor was it light seepage onto the film.

Other than that, they would not comment on the photo. (This was before digital cameras and photoshop!)

I can confirm that the bed on the left did not have a headboard, nor was anything unusual noticed at the thim the pic was taken.

I’m no expert on ghosts or the supernatural so would appreciate comments and feedback on this.

Cheers

It may be a ghost, especially if it had a reputation for being haunted.

Interesting stuff! :)

I believe there is ghosts.

But to me, it looks as the person comented (sorry, can’t remember the name) like finger marks on the camera lens. My camera does that sometimes when I’ve touched it accidentaly or something.

Here is a picture I took of a cemetary in Crest Hill, Il Bachelor grove. If you look on the groundyou will see eyes an nose and in white.

Personally, I’m not convinced by this one. I’ve seen fakes that looked much more convincing than this, taken on film cameras, without any photoshopping or anything along those lines.

Initially, my thought was that there was a light positioned to the left of the shot (out of view), but then I noticed the path of the ‘shape’ wasn’t straight. The next logical thought for me is that there could have been a smear on the lens. Combine that with the light hitting the lens at the right angle, and you’ve got a ‘ghost’.

Having said this, I’m not a complete skeptic- I am of the mind that not everything falling under the category of “paranormal phenomena” can be explained easily. Personally, I’ve had a few things along those lines happen in my life, and while I’m not sure if they were results of ghosts or spirits, I try to keep an open mind.

There can’t be ghost. There can be demons but not ghosts. All spirts pass to the other side whether they go up or down was that’s persons choices in life. Also if ghosts are real them how come when I lived in a house at was over 200 years old for 12 years of my life I didn’t hear or see one? I am home lots too. So I dont understand why you would think it was a ghost it looks like a shadow. Also another thing apreantly if you see white sparks of light all around you an angel is near you watching over you. I’ve seen that acouple times around me but I fingured I was just tired.

Hi xxlovehurtsbabexx ,

There was nothing in the room to cast a shadow, also, there are also lines running across the front of my friend if you look carefully.

Ref the other part of your question, I believe some people are more open to tuning in and experiencing ‘strange and unexplained’ things.

I don’t know what the image shows but it is definately not a shadow. I’m interested to hear what others make of this though.

Many thanks for your input.

Hi Jemmy, A few people have mentioned this as a possibility but at the time, photography was a hobby of mine and the last thing I would allow would be a greasy or dirty lense.

I was forever cleaning this and the lensecap left on when the camera was not in use.

This pic was taken with an expensive SLR camera with interchangeable lenses on film. Not one of the modern point and shoot digital cameras.

I’m not saying it is a ghost, just that it is weird and at the time, I was unaware that the house had a reputation for being haunted.

:)

The shadow looks like a dog to me, lol. One with long floppy ears.
